1 What Are Cookies?

Short version: Cookies are tiny text files that websites store on your device to make things work — like keeping you logged in. We keep ours minimal.

Cookies are small text files placed on your computer, phone, or tablet when you visit a website. They are read by the website on your next visit and help the site remember you, keep you signed in, and function correctly.

Cookies do not contain executable code — they cannot run programs or install software. They are simply a way for a website to store a small piece of information in your browser.

2 How We Use Cookies

Payric uses cookies only where necessary for the site to function and to keep your session and data secure. We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or tracking you across third-party websites.

Specifically, we use cookies to:

  • Keep you authenticated when you log in to the Payric app (once it launches).
  • Maintain your session so you don't have to log in on every page.
  • Store a CSRF token that protects your account against cross-site request forgery attacks.
  • Remember your basic preferences (e.g., light/dark mode) within the current session.

3 Types We Use

We use two categories of cookies — both strictly functional:

Essential Cookies

These are required for the website and application to work at all. Without them, features like logging in and submitting forms won't function. You cannot opt out of essential cookies while continuing to use the service — but they only do what is necessary and nothing more.

Security Cookies

These are set by our backend infrastructure (Supabase) to protect your account and our API from abuse. They include session tokens and CSRF protection tokens. They contain no personally identifiable information beyond a random, cryptographically generated identifier.

We do not use:

  • Analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel).
  • Advertising or retargeting cookies (e.g., Meta Pixel, Google Ads).
  • Social media tracking pixels.
  • Any third-party cookies that track you across websites.

4 Cookie Reference Table

Here is a complete list of the cookies Payric may set on your device:

Name Type Purpose Duration
sb-<project>-auth-token Security Supabase authentication token — keeps you logged in to the Payric app. Session / up to 1 hour (refreshed automatically)
sb-<project>-auth-token-code-verifier Security PKCE code verifier used during the OAuth / email login flow for security. Session (cleared after login)
sb-<project>-auth-token-provider-token Security Stores the provider access token if you sign in with a social/OAuth provider. Session
payric_theme Essential Remembers your light/dark mode preference within the app. 1 year (local preference only)

Cookie names prefixed with sb- are set by Supabase and the exact name includes your project reference. They never contain your personal data — only cryptographic tokens.

5 Third-Party Cookies

The only third-party service that sets cookies on Payric is Supabase, our database and authentication provider. Supabase cookies are security-essential and are scoped to the Payric domain only — they do not track you across other websites.

We have intentionally chosen not to include any advertising networks, analytics platforms, or social media widgets that would place third-party tracking cookies on your device.

If we ever add any analytics or other third-party services that use cookies, we will update this policy, add a cookie consent mechanism, and notify waitlist and app users accordingly.

6 Your Choices

Because we only use essential and security cookies, there is no separate opt-out for cookies on this site. Blocking or deleting these cookies through your browser settings is possible, but will prevent the service from functioning correctly — for example, you will not be able to stay logged in.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data.
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
  • Safari: Settings → Safari → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data.

Clearing cookies will log you out of the Payric app and reset any stored preferences. It will not affect the data stored in your Payric account on our servers.

7 Policy Changes

As Payric grows and we add new features, our use of cookies may change. If we introduce any non-essential cookies — particularly analytics or preference cookies — we will update this policy, add a proper cookie consent banner, and notify existing users. We will always update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.
